About The Department
The Department of Visual Communication was established in the year 2009. The course was started by the S.I.V.E. Trust which had a vision of serving the students community by giving this valuable course at an affordable cost. Aim of this course is to bring out the creativity in the young minds and to formulate them as media professionals. At present, the department consists of three well – experienced faculty members headed by Mrs. M. Kiruba Angelin.
The department studios and labs are well equipped with the state of art equipments and infrastructure which meet the requirements for a professional studio. The students are given quality education and training by which they are ready to meet industry requirements, as soon as they complete their 3 yr. The students are taken for industrial and field trips regularly so that they get an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the industry and the technologies. Students are given individual focus to get specialized in their area of interest so that they can sharpen their skills and be industry ready.
The department periodically conducts art exhibitions and cultural festivals every year and also conducts workshops on Screen Play, Direction and Editing. The students are taken to various places in and around Tamil Nadu to observe the varying art and architecture. Besides class room lectures, the students are allowed to visit theatres and museums to get in-depth knowledge and understanding of the industry and technologies. As add on credit, the department has also produced university rank holders.
The department of Visual Communication conducts an art exhibition and cultural festival titled “Ennangalum Vannangalum” every year to showcase the student’s art, photography and other creative skills. This helps the students to showcase their talents and get suggestions from the students of other colleges and eminent personalities who attend the festival. Some of the notable chief guests invited are Film Director Mr. Gowthaman, Actor Shiva Kumar and Editor Suresh.
Every year, the department conducts events and competitions for the students of other departments to showcase their talents. The department has to its pride that students are placed in top positions in media giants like Dinakaran, Thanthi TV, Chuchu TV, Puthiya Thalaimurai, Graphic design studio, 2 ad pro, etc.
