About The Department
The Department of Computer Science was started in the year 1992, offering degree in B.Sc Computer Science. The department escalated to the next level, by adding MCA degree programme in the year 1993 and Bachelor’s degree programme in Computer Application (BCA) in 2009.
Presently the department is headed by Mr. G. K. Arun, Mr. C. Arun kumar and Mrs. D.Selvamani, supported with 13 staff members. Apart from the regular papers, the staff members also handling Basic Computing Skills for students of aided stream.
Students gain wide range of skills while studying computer science. Technical skills such as programming, and non-technical skills such as problem-solving and leadership, are some of them. A degree in computer science can translate to roles in many different industries. From communications and financial companies, to software, health care and governmental agencies and there are no limitations. We live in a time where technology plays an important role in many aspects of life.
Computer science is a dynamic and rapidly growing area that has become an integral part of the world that we live in today. Having a degree in this field will provide a deep understanding of theories and emerging technologies. This knowledge and experience will guide students to develop cutting-edge solutions that address today’s challenges.
The department organizes expert talks and seminars on current topics in IT field to enrich the student’s knowledge. The department regularly conducts symposiums, seminars and workshops. It also conducts value added professional courses like Web designing, DTP, etc. The Students actively participate in intercollegiate competition and paper presentations bringing laurels to the college. Our students have won several shields in various inter collegiate competitions and events.
The Department, in coordination with the Placement Cell has signed MOU with ICT to conduct Faculty Development Programmes and Student Development Programmes. The students of the department are being placed in reputed IT companies.
