About The Department
The Department of Economics was established in the year 1972, under the Headship of Thiru.D.J.Durairaj,M.A. At Present the Department functionS under Dr.T.Balasaravanan M.A.,P.G.D.A.Ed.,Ph.D. Head of the Department and Associate professor .
The Department also handles Allied Subject to B.Com students,UG students of Corporate Secretaryship, MCA and MBA. The Efforts are being made continuously to take special classes for the weaker Students. Students admitted to the department are mostly from poor socio- economic background. Physically challenged students are given priority during admission. The overall performance of our students has seen a steady improvement in all the academic years. The department motivates and encourages the students to participate all the extracurricular activities to bring out their talents. In such ways the Department is organizing meetings, exhibition, Quiz Program, Educational Tour etc. For the past 3 years, the students in our department have been given training in Yoga & Meditation to improve their personality skill & health. We maintain a departmental library which has a collection of more than 1000 books. All the staff members have been rendering their fullest co-operations for the smooth functioning of the department.
