About The Department

The Department of Commerce was established in the year 1966. The department is upgraded as P.G. and research department in the year 2005 – 2006. The department got affiliation for M.Phil. Commerce from University of Madras in the year 2013.

The Department at present headed by Dr.G.Rajendiran M.Com., M.Phil., Ph.D Associate Professor .At present, the sanctioned strength is 210 students at UG level and 80 students at PG level and 6 Students for M.Phil. Admissions are being made on merit and on the basis of the reservation policy of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Most of the students admitted are from the downtrodden sect of the society.
The department conducts various activities at periodic intervals in order to improve the academic standard of the students. The department also takes follow-up action by sending the progress reports to the parents. Our Students have secured University ranks.

The Placement Record of the department is phenomenal. The college has a well developed placement cell which takes care of the placement of the students. Students are being  placed in reputed companies and financial Services.

The Department takes pride in conducting a National Conference on and a State Level Seminar. The Commerce Department Association has been organizing various meetings by inviting eminent persons from academic and corporate circles so as to make our students get informed of the current developments in the field of commerce. Seminars, quiz and other programmes both at collegiate and inter-collegiate levels have been organized in a successful manner. The department is continuing its sincere efforts in accomplishing its various objectives keeping in mind the interest and welfare of our students in the years to come.
