The South India Vaniar Education Trust owes its birth to the far-sighted vision and vigorous initiative of late Thiru. S.A. Ayyasami Chettiar M.A., B.L., who raised donation from the generous-hearted and public-spirited members of the Vaniar Community to which he himself belonged and set up the above charitable organization in 1960. While he was the founder-president of the Trust, Thiru. T.V.K. Vaidyalingam Chettiar took over as its Secretary.
The Trust conceived the plan of going ahead with an establishment, a college, which would be a boon to youth of the community who were in need of opportunities that would help them to enter into the portals of higher education.
The primary aim of the trust has been to promote education which is considered to be an investment for national development through making the best use of the available human resources. To this end, the Trust initially extended its financial assistance to meritorious but needy students in the form of scholarship. This included many of the youngsters of the Vaniar community to pursue higher studies in a college.
It was the singular good fortune of the trust that it succeeded in securing the approval of the government as well as of the University of Madras.
Presently, the Trust is run under the enlightening guidance of Thiru. C. Ramakrishnan and stewarded by Thiru C. Madasamy, Secretary, and financially headed by Thiru. D. Balakrishnan, Treasurer. The other 15 efficient and energetic management members have given their co operation towards the co ordination of the Trust.
